Lenovo Power cable - Distinguished by the plastic yellow tip.

Lenovo Power brick -  Part of the Lenovo power cable

USB Cable - Usually attached to a flash drive, mouse, or keyboard.

Ethernet Cable - Used to connect the computer to the internet. (Usually connected to a switch or Router)

Display Port cable - Used to connect a computer to a monitor. (The plug can go either way depending on which port the computer/Monitor has.)

HDMI cable - Used to connect a computer to a monitor. (This plug can also go either way.)

DVI Cable - A bit older technology, but same function as the two above.

Standard Power Cable - Cable that is connected to the outlet. Usually used for Monitors or to connect to a power brick. (For our purpose, it is used for the monitors)

PORTS

Back of a standard Lenovo computer. Ports from the top - 1. Ethernet port - 2. 2 USB 3.0 port (Blue), 1 USB 2.0 Port (Black) - Labeled with a keyboard logo - 3. HDMI Port - 4. Another USB Port - 5. 2 Display port, 1 below the USB port, and above the Power Port, 1 on the left hand side - 6. The Power port, distinguished by the Yellow color.

There are also markings next to the port itself that helps you with identifying the ports. Generally, it is just a matching game.

(Sometimes, there are only two Display Port instead of having a HDMI port. Just make sure to have the right cable)

NOTE* It is normally recommended to plug the POWER cable in LAST and also having it connected to the computer, before plugging in the Outlet.

These are the plugs for the back of our standard monitor. Starting from the top, there are two HDMI ports, a VGA port, then a headphone and a microphone port. Most of the time, we will only use one of the top two ports, the HDMI ports.

NOTE* Most of the time, our monitor and computer ports DO NOT match, hence the cables we used are usually HDMI to Display port or vice versa. Sometimes, we also use Display to VGA (the blue port).

Power port, behind the monitor. Used by the standard power cable (Plug cable in to monitor before the Outlet).

Some monitors uses DVI as well, the same rule applies as HDMI since the ports usually doesn't match so we can use Display port (Computer) to DVI (Monitor).

Steps to set up computer

1. Set monitors into your preferred position.

2. Plug power cable into the monitor, then plug the cable into the power outlet. Also plug in your Display/HDMI/DVI Cable into the monitor at this point and just leave the other end hanging.

3. Position your computer next to your monitors (Anywhere is fine, as long as the cable reach and no harm will come to the computer unit), then position your mouse and keyboard into preferred locations.

4. Plug Mouse, Keyboard, and the cables connected to the monitor in now. (DO NOT plug in the power cable yet, save it for last) (Plug in the Ethernet cable as well if you have it, if not just use Wi-Fi)

5. Plug the Computer Power cable into the computer now (The Yellow Tipped cable)

6. Once everything looks good, proceed to plug the computer power cable into the Outlet. (Sometimes, if you plug the power cable into the outlet first, then plug it in the computer/Monitor. It may get the wrong charge or overload and fry your electronic, hence we always want to plug the power cables into the outlet last.)
